The RSK is not designed to replace tents, but to provide the first bamboo frame shelter in a simple kit that transforms standard relief tarpaulins into strong, secure and dignified shelters. In doing this It can have a significant impact on any emergency shelter response; especially for large scale conflicts and natural disasters.

This is the first bamboo shelter kit to use a strong and highly efficient reciprocal frame roof. It is this efficiency that results in the RSK using 33% less bamboo than any equivalent shelter and it also means that a complete emergency RSK shelter costs less than $40.

Saving bamboo resources on this scale not only benefits the environment but also amounts to massive savings in transportation costs. Further efficiency savings are made by beneficiaries being able to upgrade their emergency shelter to a temporary shelter using the same roof frame throughout. This modular efficiency extends right up to the 4 unit temporary classroom or reception  providing 40 square metres of covered space.

But it is not just these efficiency savings that the RSK can provide. Our fie

The RSK is the first bamboo shelter kit to use a strong and highly efficient reciprocal frame roof.

In an emergency this type of roof has many practical advantages over the bamboo lattice roof of traditional shelters.

Structurally the inherent strength of this roof can be put to good use supporting insulation and improving ventilation to provide health benefits.

There are shelters in the RSK range that can be erected on hillsides or urban concrete surfaces where it would not be possible to use tents.

The RSK shelter is very versatile and beneficiaries can use the same roof frame they used for their emergency shelter

By empowering displaced families with this simple method it is now possible to facilitate the rapid erection of strong and secure shelters in large numbers.
